Kerala Police is organising the 4th Edition of Hackathon “Hac’KP” with the objective of giving an opportunity for the socially committed tech geeks to come up with their ideas and prototypes to equip law and order establishments with innovative digital solutions for effective policing and ensure civil safety. Hac’KP aims to provide a common platform for the programmers, designers, and inventors to come together to code, design, and build innovative solutions that provide solutions for the Police to effectively tackle real-world problems in the exponentially growing digital world. Anyone interested can register individually or as a team and can contribute as a designer, developer, AI/ML/Data Analytics Expert, etc.
The present pandemic has led to a total transformation in the way we live and go about our business. The whole paradigm of policing has also changed. In this new reality, Hac’KP also opens up creative minds to devise solutions for overcoming some of the challenges thrown up by the pandemic.
Backed with the courage and experience from the previous three hackathons which were grand successes in terms of public participation, quality of proposals and great technical interactions, Kerala Police decided to launch Hac'KP as an Online Hackathon to provide opportunities without restraints of location or time zone.
“We are conducting HAC 'KP in a much bigger scale this year. This comes from our firm commitment to make Kerala Police one of the most digitally equipped forces Internationally, to address the evolving threats to civil safety from the cyber world. In addition to compacting cyber threats, the event also focuses on finding innovative solutions to bring in positive and holistic digital transformation in governance and civil safety.” According to the press release by Kerala Police CyberDome said.
The official inauguration of the website was done by Sri. Loknath Behra IPS, State Police Chief in presence of Sri.Manoj Abraham IPS, ADGP HQ & Nodal officer, Cyberdome on June 6, 2020, on an event conducted at State Police Head Quarters. This was followed by the launch of the registration platform.
The hackathon provides immense opportunities to the socially committed tech geeks to pitch in their idea or to be a part of the team, develop and to watch their innovative solutions making a change in the society. Fabulous prizes are also awaiting the winners. The prizemoney will be 5 Lakhs, 2.5 lakhs and 1 lakh for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
